STARVED ROCK WINTER FOOTAGE TO BE FEATURED ON TIMES SQUARE BILLBOARD
Illinois winter scenes captured in the Illinois Valley are now representing the state on a national stage.
This winter, reelCreative’s work will appear on a billboard in Times Square, New York, as part of the Illinois Office of Tourism’s Enjoy Illinois winter campaign.
Digital Rendering of reelCreative Footage in Times Square
For our team, this marks a first. Footage captured here at home will be displayed in one of the most visible public spaces in the world, sharing Illinois winter scenes with a national audience.
We’re honored to have worked with the Illinois Office of Tourism on their Enjoy Illinois winter tourism spots. A total of 21 winter clips from our library of locally captured media were selected for inclusion across multiple campaign placements, including digital and out of home displays. These moments were chosen to complement the tone, pace, and sense of place integrated throughout the campaign.
Seeing scenes from our region featured on a Times Square billboard is both humbling and deeply meaningful. It reflects the power of thoughtful storytelling and the trust built through strong creative partnerships.
In one of the winter videos, Enchanting Winter (linked below), four of the five total clips featured were captured by reelCreative.
Years in the Making
These clips were captured over multiple winters, from frozen waterfalls to snow covered trails, during times when the landscape is often overlooked, not just when conditions are ideal.
They were never created with a single campaign or placement in mind. They were created because winter deserves to be seen, experienced, and appreciated.
Proudly Regional, Reaching Far Beyond
reelCreative remains rooted in the greater Illinois Valley and Starved Rock Country region. We’re proud to be a regional company that continues to produce the majority of tourism focused video work in our area, and even more proud when that work finds a larger audience.
“We were simply filming these winter scenes at our favorite park. We never imagined they’d end up being seen by millions of people in Times Square,” stated Matthew Klein, Co-Founder of reelCreative. “We were focused on capturing the beauty of Starved Rock and the Illinois Valley the way we experience it.”
To see footage captured here integrated into a statewide campaign and displayed on a national stage is a reminder of something we’ve long believed; Strong storytelling travels. When the work is honest, intentional, and high quality, it resonates well beyond where it was created.
We’re grateful to the Illinois Office of Tourism for trusting our work and allowing these moments to represent Illinois this winter. It’s an honor to help showcase the beauty of our region and to see years of effort come together in such a visible way.
Projects like this reinforce a simple truth. Meaningful stories can come from anywhere, and when told well, they belong everywhere.
